tricky chocolate milkshake

Oh, blog. I was gonna keep you updated all the time...and I just gave up on you. But today, I have something that I must share, but don't really think a lot of people will care about. A chocolate milkshake that is healthy. With no dairy. That fools our very picky "i want regular cow milk!" toddler. And there's avocado in it. I was inspired by this post on serious eats: Chocolate Avocado Milkshake
Plus, we had on hand a rather large amount of coconut water recently purchased from Costco with the intention of becoming enormously healthy in the new year.
And then I changed the recipe, of course.
So here's what I did:
1. mixed up 1 tsp. cocoa powder and 2 tsp. maple syrup until it made kind of a paste.
2. added 1/4 - 1/2 an avocado...depends on how crazy you are, but this is what makes it thick and shake-like, so...
3. pour in about 1 1/2 cups coconut water
4. using an immersion blender (or make the whole thing in a regular blender) blend until smooth.
5. enjoy your chocolate "milk"shake! share with a toddler who will suck it down happily thinking he is getting a very special treat.
